no like. on my team roster I have so many players but when I want to select subs during a match only a partial of my team is selected. how do I pick who will be my subs for the match?

Open your Strategy bldg during a game. Available subs are on the left and you just drag them into position, 7 allowed per game.
That's easy anyone listed as 1-15 is in your starting squad the rest are bench or subs whatever you wanna call em
Or even "finishers" in the latest parlance!
