How about the more you use match bonus the less effective it becomes, to a point where it has negative effects on players when you stop using it.
Heres my logic behind the idea, if you issue 100,000 per game for 10 games straight regardless of importance,players would start to expect it (or feel like its part of their salary) and it would not be a bonus or motivate them as much. To a point where if you then took the bonus away they would perform under their ability as they're demotivated. Compared to if you never issue bonus for 5 seasons then suddenly offer 50k the players will be super hype.
