I am a 25* average team. In this new training match format, I now find myself surrounded by 100* or more teams in the training match map (I've got a ranking under 12,000). How am I supposed to find a training match closer to my level?

It will take time for everything to even out since we were all placed not on ability but on other factors. Because of this unevenness the devs have stopped subtracting fans for losses until the new year to minimize the impact. Be patient and then this system will work great for you. A lot of us higher up are loving the new challenge system and I think you will too in due time
