The halftime kickoff does not work as it was intended (or at least I assume it was intended to mimic American Football rules). If you receive the opening kickoff you will then be the kicking team to open the second half. Right now whoever has the ball when it hits halftime is the kicking team; regardless of who got the original kickoff.
