Yeah just take a look at the top 100. Maybe assess it for a week or so to see who remains in there throughout a prolonged period, it's one thing getting kn there but another to stay there.
Also when you have managed to get a guild hall for your city, go and join a guild. There you will learn a hell of a lot about the game, they will help with strats too.

One last thing, if they are always showing up next to a guild mate check their schedule. There are some up top that don't belong but literally ride the coattails of those in their guild.
