Player stats not reflecting what happens on the field

I don't know if I'm missing something, but how is it possible for my old 26 year old (27.75 star) flyhalf, with a kick accuracy of 30 and kick force of 31, be able to kick 65% of his kicks successfully. But my new 23 year old (33.13 star) flyhalf, with a kick accuracy 45 and kick force of 45, only kicks 15% of his kicks successfully?! Is this just a massive bug in the game or do the stats really mean nothing??

It's not all about stats. Energy levels, morale and tactics are all factors. Try reducing his rhythm for instance; it reduces speed on the pitch but also reduces mistakes.
