Introduce Yellow Cards

How often must sides miss out on the opportunity to score decent points against poorly set up/disciplined sides?

Please could you have a look at introducing yellow cards?

Foul after foul after foul makes for the most tedious kind of rugby!

Would be nice to see.
Not sure how they could do though given you can't adjust the defence, unless there is a set structure built in at the time.
Would like something that gave some options, i.e. Strategy linked and based on a player who fouls 3 times or team 5 (or something like that)

Good idea, difficult to implement well I fear.

Agreed, would be tricky... Even just a simple 3 or 4 offences by same player would be a start, though.

Quite often see a professional foul when the last man fouls a runner who has broken through... Shouldn't be impossible.

In the football version there is yellow/red cards. But a player won't get more than one yellow card in a game but it does get carried over and if the same player gets a yellow card in the next game, then the player is suspended for a game. However in such a scenario the player is not physically removed (and correctly so) from the action as in rugby where a yellow card does involve 10mins with one less player. I guess the programming in setting up defense/attack positions in the game is beyond the developers' capabilities and hence this will remain a nice idea unfortunately. It's been raised numerous times.

Though a suspension is a pretty good middle ground.

How about treat it like an injury then? Auto sub (coming out of your allowance if you haven't already made 7) then x amount of days out? The amount can be debated but it's literally the same process as injury but with a different symbol and unable to heal so it would last however long was decided

Say 3 fouls by the same guy results in the action taking place then a 1 day ban for the player to act as a deterrent. Only applicable to competitive matches (league and tourney), so not to friendlies or GvG as the league difference can cause fouls, but the ban runs for ALL matches in that day

It's the tiniest tweak to the code as its basically the same system as what's in place, though far simpler as stats won't matter (a simple if fouls exceed 3 then kinda thing) and there's not the nightmare of playing with 14 for the devs to work out

Thoughts?

Definitely a great idea to have yellow cards. In soccer game it evev leads to suspension for a match etc.
Can only have a positive outcome on the game.

Not so bothered about players getting sent off but gaining penalty tries where a penalty close to the try line stops a certain try or for continuing fouling in the scrum when close to your own try line that would stop the professional foul by teams that have taken an early lead who look to disrupt the game reducing your scoring opportunities

Most often repeated fouling / penalties end up in yellow cards and sin binning - it's still thankfully pretty rare to see a penalty try.

Penalty tries are all about a judgement call by the referee, so would be pretty hard to code I would imagine!

Maybe an accumalative system if for instance it happens 3 times close to the try line either in scrum or open play then a penalty try be awarded it wouldn't be too difficult to add into the game and would make teams rethink their tactics
