Can anyone help me, I am saving skill points for the new season. Please confirm,
I won't lose them when the new season starts?

You will not lose them. They are carried forward.

There's only an advantage if you have maxed out key skills and then get promoted, as you can increase each skill's maximum value by 5 points per season.
