Hey, it happens in a couple of my matches that the opposite team commits a fault and they get to be the ones taken the free kick... sometimes it's even yellow card for one of their players. so there is no doubt about who commit the fault...

Is this a regular occurrence?

It happen more than once. Several on matches of the championship, that are no longer available, but i was able to find a situation. When I played against Moylough79, on 08/12 at 00:22. On the 35th minute, the other team makes a foul, gets an yellow card and to have the free-kick.

It happen again last night. me vs Gerardo Delos Santos (16/12 - 23:06). Minute 67, the player number 3 of the opponent team gets an yellow card and then is the same player that restarts the match after the free-kick. Can you check this one?
