Apologies if I'm wrong, I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's just part of the game in American rules as I'm from the UK, but this happens a lot opposition throws the ball out of play then when the ball goes out of play which ever side threw the ball out of play also receives the lineout surely if I throw the ball out of play my opposite number should receive the lineout ? and vice versa?
When the ball gets thrown out of play???

Nope not a bug.
Lineouts don't exist in American football.
Basically if the ball gets thrown out of play it is deemed an incomplete pass and you move on to the next down, unless it was 4th down then the ball gets turned over as per normal.
If a player receives the ball and runs out of play the yardage made (or lost) will be taken just like a tackle situation. (In actual american football it will lead to the time also stopping)
