I've noticed a lot lately that there seems to be no penalty for players playing out of position! A lot of the games top players seem to have a team full of random players. Centre's up front, 3 no.8's in the starting line up (just a couple of examples).
Is it really a case of the highest rating wins no matter where they are positioned??

Yes and no. Players in the scrum need high scrum coordination, for example - could be centres, but you'll have to train them hard. Same for every area of the game. But a high-rated centre might have better (or at least as good) scrum stats than a low-rated forward anyway, and will have better stats elsewhere.
